Searching for your wedding dress is a journey and we want you to have an exciting one. Throughout our many years of experience, we have gathered some of our most important tips so that this journey can be perfect for you. When on the hunt, there are some things you should consider before buying. Research doesn’t stop at the dress, it goes beyond that. Saying yes to the dress is just as important as saying yes to the bridal shop. How do you know what checks out and what doesn’t? Don’t worry, we’ve got your back.
Do Your Research
Like any big purchase, research is very necessary, and wedding gowns are no different. Research many different styles and designers, and from there you can find bridal shops that carry these designers. Finding your budget restrictions is important as well, we would never suggest you try on gowns outside of your budget. As long as you spend time making sure the bridal shop is reputable and reliable, they will help you for the rest of your journey.
Have an Open Mind
You are shopping for your big day, and we know you want to look perfect. But it is always best to come in open minded. Bring inspiration photos to your bridal appointments and don’t be afraid to try on something that is out of your comfort zone.
Bring Valued Opinions
As bridal stylists, we can see how influential the entourage can be on a wedding dress shopping day. Bring family and friends that opinions mean the most to you, but always keep in mind it is your dress and your day. And if the appointment and the opinions become too overwhelming, you can always schedule a second day to come back with just yourself or one other loved one.
Accessorizing
Sometimes people feel as if there is something missing when they put on their dream dress, and what is, are the accessories! Accessories will tie everything together, whether it is a dainty necklace or a long cathedral veil, never be opposed to dressing up on your special day.
Be Wary of Scams
Scams can occur not just online but in store. Our tip is to follow the good ol’ phrase, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” Designer gowns are only sold to authorized vendors, so make sure if you see a photo of a designer gown online, it is being sold by one of these sellers. You can always check the designers website for a list.
All in all, our biggest tip is finding a bridal shop that you feel fully comfortable with. They should provide you with a service that is whole rounded, from seeing your vision or helping you find it, to updating you with ship dates. Don’t be afraid to ask stylists a billion questions if you need to feel reassured about your purchase. They can give every detail to get you to the finish line. So many bridal stylists do the job because they love it, and want to connect with the bride. For the next two hours, you and the stylist are BFFs and they want nothing but the best for you. If you are ever feeling negativity or pressure from a bridal stylist, that should be a big red flag. Keep a lookout for these red flags next time you’re shopping for your dream dress.
